The Folsom Trails High School Girl Scouts are on fire! Several of them have earned prestigious awards this year for their volunteer work making a difference in their communities. These girls were involved in everything from dog adoption to tree planting to make Folsom and the surrounding areas better places to live. Thank you, ladies! (Folsom Times)
A new 4-say stop has been approved at Oak Avenue and Vista Oaks Drive in American River Canyon. Residents signed a petition that was delivered to City Works to change the current “side-street stop-controlled intersection” to a 4-way stop. “Motorists are using these roadways to bypass the intersection of Folsom Auburn Road and Oak Avenue Parkway. The proposed stop signs are intended to deter cut-through traffic,” interim Public Works Director Marcus Yasutake said. (Folsom Telegraph)
In-person visitation has been suspended at Folsom Prison, along with 22 other Level III and Level IV men’s facilities in California. All phone and ViaPath tablet communications have also been suspended as part of a modified program due to “a recent and concerning rise in violent incidents directed towards both staff and incarcerated individuals.” CDCR states that that the modified program will remain in place until the ongoing review is complete.
Hey! Did you know?
Going on vacation this summer? You can request a vacation check from the Folsom PD before you head out. Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS) volunteers will “check locked doors and gates, keep an eye out for suspicious activity and notify residents, emergency contacts and Folsom PD if anything appears out of place.” Sounds like a great way to grab a little peace of mind while you are away!
There are about a billion wine and ale trails within Placer County, Amador County, El Dorado County, Nevada County and the Sacramento Delta. If you want to explore some you’ve never explored before sacwineandale.com has maps for you! I dare you to drink your way through all of them this summer!

With a name like Mess Fest it’s gotta be fun! Mess Fest 2025 hits the Children’s Museum in Rancho Cordova on June 21. “Dress for the mess and get ready to be wet, sticky, gooey, and dirty!”
Amazing Animal World is coming to Out of Bounds Brewing on July 27. “Amazing Animal World will be here at 12:00pm showcasing live exotic animals! Come out for an opportunity to learn, see, and take photos with the animals.”
2025 Summer Harvest Days are happening July 26-27 and August 2-3 at Apple Hill. “This event will celebrate summer with activities and offerings that feature berries, plums, peaches, vegetables, wine, hard cider, baked goods, jams, treats, wine and more!” Did they list wine twice? Yeah, they did!

Wanna own an acre parcel in downtown Roseville? Now’s your chance. “The property at 505 Royer Street is centrally located in Downtown Roseville, situated near a library, a multi-use trail along Dry Creek, Royer Park, Vernon Street Town Square, shops and restaurants,” according to Gold Country Media. It’s zoned for all kinds of uses, including “mixed-use, retail, restaurants, public or quasi-public facilities, offices, multi-family homes, live/workspace and public markets.” I’d love an open air arket down there. Who wants to go in with me?
