The Folsom Community Center is set to host the first-ever Folsom-Con, “Folsom-Con is about uniting hardcore collectors and casual fans in a space where everyone can appreciate comic books. It’s an opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts, explore incredible vintage comics, and support the local community,” said Lanvin Peets, owner of All Comics & Collectibles. Whether you like Batman or Archie, Folsom is the place to be on October 20. (Folsom Times)
All of the local dignitaries, including the mayor, himself, turned out for the 25th anniversary of the Powerhouse Pub in Old Folsom on Tuesday night. According to the Folsom Telegraph the pub celebrated with “a festive ribbon cutting ceremony.” The pictures look like it was a lot of fun!
The fence is up and the equipment is starting to be put in place for the construction of the new Marriott AC Hotel at the Palladio! It will be a 5 story 130-room hotel across from Dave & Busters. You can see a rendering in this article from the Sacramento Business Journal, but you need a subscription to read the article… or you could just drive by the Palladio and take a look for yourself!

Placer County has seven day trips for you to try in the area. You know it’s a good list because the second one on the list is Folsom! They also suggest Empire Mine and the South Yuba River State Park. I might have to check that one out, once the “longest single-span covered bridge in the world” is open after its restoration.
