Hey! Did you know?
There’s a little slice of heaven you may have missed on the outskirts of Roseville. It’s called the Al Johnson Wildlife Area and it “includes rice and dry farming and a small area within the West Roseville Specific Plan contains prime farmland within a pistachio orchard.” It’s only accessible by trail with limited parking at the trailhead - but don’t let that stop you, or even delay you because the days of this solitude may be ending. Development is slated right next door. So get your booty out there and enjoy it before it’s too late! (Roseville Today)

… And Stuff
You KNOW you’re going to find me at the St. Orres hotel in Gualala at some point. This place is right up my alley. The wood is salvaged from the old structure that used to stand on the land and the food is locally sourced - like, really locally. The owner is a forager and she forages berries and mushrooms and other morsels for the top notch hotel restaurant. All of that is great, but I love it because it is so unique! The architecture looks like a bit of Russia touched down on the north coast and the little cottages “which are tucked away in the property’s redwood forest” look like the perfect place to read a little Tolstoy. I’m there (uh, maybe sans the Tolstoy)! (Bartells’ Backroads)
