Folsom Police are investigating a death that they are calling a homicide that happened outside of Slickers Bar in Historic Folsom on Saturday. Details are few, but what initially was believed to be a medical emergency outside of the bar at about 3:40 in the afternoon, has now been reclassified as a homicide. “Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact the Folsom Police Department at 916-355-7231. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.” (Folsom Times)
Folsom Lake State Recreational Area is partnering with American River Bike Patrol to ensure safety on our beautiful trails. According to the Folsom Telegraph, “American River Bike Patrol is a volunteer organization that patrols 354 miles of bike paths and multi-use trails around the American River, averaging more than 8,500 patrol hours annually while responding to accidents and promoting trail safety from Sacramento to Auburn.” FLSRA and ARBP plan to offer biking programs like the pilot program “Biking Through History” that they ran during State Parks Week.
Have you heard about the Motherlode Epic mountain bike race? It’s grueling 40-mile trek on some very unforgiving terrain and it sounds to me like the last thing I’d want to do in the sweltering summer heat around here. Good thing Will Benzer doesn’t feel that way. Benzer set a record by completing the race this year at just 8 years old! He’s the youngest rider ever to complete the race. “I am excited to be able to say that I did it,” Will said. “Most people didn’t think it was possible.” Way to go, little dude! (Folsom Times)
