The first shovel of dirt has been turned on the Southpointe at Folsom Ranch development, “a major new commercial development set to transform the corner of East Bidwell Street and Southpointe Drive.” Folsom City and Sacramento County dignitaries were on hand with shovels for the event. The plans include retail space, restaurants and service providers, along with medical facilities and a gas station. (Folsom Times)
Four-year-old Landon Capozzoli of El Dorado Hills will be part of a delegation that is headed to Washington DC. The young man was born with type 1 diabetes and he was chosen by Breakthrough T1D, the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization, to advocate for greater support for type 1 diabetes awareness. Landon and his peers, ages 4 - 17, will meet with Congress members to “inform them of the critical role they can play in supporting the T1D community.” Way to go Landon! (Folsom Telegraph)

Chickens are not known for their genius, in general, but this particular chicken is just cluckin’ stupid! He got lost and, apparently, knocked at the door to the local Buffalo Wild Wings to ask for help. Lucky for him, they called animal control and not the guy in the kitchen with the cleaver. (UPI)
