The Folsom City Council has tabled a proposal to replace a fence around the historic Natoma Sluice Diggings mine. The project would have cost $123,000. Folsom’s new city manager questioned whether this was the highest and best use for the funds. It was presented as being the solution to a risk management issue, given that the current fence no longer really keeps people out of the site, which includes “a series of trenches that were used to mine gold from nearby creeks during the early 1900s,” according to the Folsom Telegraph. Councilmember Kozlowski suggested that “there may be other methods that would actually preserve them better for the long haul, that actually might negate the need for a fence.” The discussion was postponed to a later meeting.
According to neighbors, hundreds of teens descended on the new development called Rockcress at Folsom Ranch on Saturday night and broke into two houses to party. "We saw that it was just mayhem, just every single part of the sidewalk was covered with cars and kids, teenagers walking, wearing minimal clothing. Just chaos," according to one neighbor. Cops broke up the party, but not before at least one of the homes was damaged. Police are investigating, according to KCRA3.
Hey! Did you know?

Looking for someplace unique to explore this spring? How about Wakamatsu Tea & Silk Colony Farm in Placerville? It’s the site of the first Japanese colony in North America “and is the only settlement established by samurai outside of Japan.” Volunteer Docents lead both public and private tours which typically last for two hours. There are also lots of classes you can take there and lots of pretty scenery to explore! Take the kids and make a fun day of it! (Visit El Dorado)

Were you at the inaugural A’s game on Monday? If so, did you catch a ball that a ballboy flipped to you? If you said “yes,” you could be sitting on a treasure trove of cool A’s memorabilia. A’s shortstop Jacob Wilson hit is very first MLB home run at the stadium on Monday, but that ball was inadvertently flipped to a fan rather than gathered to give to the rising A’s star. Wilson would like to find that ball and give it to his dad. “Wilson isn’t expecting a free return, though. He’s offering a trade to whoever comes forward with the baseball.” “I’ll get them a signed ball, signed bat, some batting gloves if anybody's kind of enough to bring it back,” Wilson said. (ABC10)
