Folsom High Grad Walk at Gold Ridge. What an awesome tradition!
Newsworthy
I love this tradition! Each year, during what is called the GRADitdude Walk, Folsom Cordova high school seniors return in their caps and gowns to their elementary and middle school alma maters to thank their teachers and inspire the next generation of students. That walk took place last week around Folsom. “The Grad-itude Walk tradition serves as more than just a celebration of academic achievement; it’s a powerful example for current elementary and middle school students to visualize their own futures, motivated by the very faces that once stood where they are now.” And the pictures are awesome! Ever wonder how the flag gets put up on the Truss Bridge for Memorial Day? The City of Folsom has a video for you! It’s a single guy who climbs the trusses, zip ties in hand! He took classes when he worked for Caltrans on rope access work and he puts that knowledge to work for us every year. Watch him climb high up on the bridge and hang the flag this year in this video from the City of Folsom. Terrifying!
The cutest darned puppy was rescued by one of Folsom PD’s animal control officers on Friday. The pup was abandoned in a box at Kemp Park. Officer Bradley to the rescue! From the looks on the faces of both the puppy and the officer, it was a job well done! The little guy is now chillin’ with a foster family. (Folsom Police Department Facebook)

Do you make ribs that stick to your ribs? If they also delight your taste buds, why not register for the rib cook-off at the Placer County Fair? It’s a highly competitive event with bragging rights to spare for the victor. Not the pitmaster, yourself? Join the fun with a rib passport on the day of the event, June 29, and taste your way through the charred goodness. (Roseville Today)

A new county program has kicked in for the victims of the Caldor Fire and it is bearing fruit. The first rebuilders at Grizzly Flat have broken ground under the program. Title 25 Limited Density Owner-Built Rural Dwelling Ordinance breaks through a lot of red tape for people who want a dwelling of 750 square feet or less. More than two-dozen other families are also on the list. It has been an arduous 3 year journey, but there is hope on the horizon. Read about it in this article from ABC10.
