The Drones over Folsom last summer! My son and his friend went to the escape room in Old Folsom last summer and this is all they could talk about when they got home! I don’t even know if they escaped…
Newsworthy
Bad news. They’ve shut down the Placer brothel. Wait! There was a Placer brothel?? I thought that stuff was reserved for Nevada… in the ‘80’s… According to court documents filed in Sacramento Superior Court, Paul Anthony Gregorio and Xuan Phi Nguyen have been charged with eight felony counts of pandering for operating various locations for prostitution in Sacramento and Placer Counties. According to this Gold Country Media article “At this time the names and locations of the establishments are not being released as the investigation continues into the operation.” Well… it’s too late anyway. They’ve been shut down. Not much need to know where they are now.
You heard it here first! Tapville is bringing the “pour your own” kiosk concept to the Westfield Galleria in Roseville. Yep, it’s beer and cider stroll and sip, mall style. They haven’t published the press release, yet, so look like a genius and tell all of your friends it’s coming before it’s public! Oh, and if you like the concept, you have a chance to get in on the ground floor. They’re in the middle of a round of crowd funding - but hurry! It’s only open for 12 more days.
Folsom firefighters responded to 512 Kay Court on Tuesday for a structure fire. Multiple units responded, including a medical unit, but all occupants in the home and neighboring homes were evacuated successfully and without injury. Find out more in this article from the Folsom Telegraph.
Hey! Did you know?
The County of Sacramento has an emergency preparedness guide for you - that is 52 pages long! You can learn how to handle everything from extreme weather to bomb threats. They’ll even teach you to open your mail safely. There’s some good stuff in here, though, especially as we go into the fire and water play seasons.
Thinking of heading up to Tahoe this 4th? North Lake Tahoe is doing something that I think is brilliant and awe-inspiring all at once. They’re going to opt for a drone show instead of fireworks on July 3 in Kings Beach and July 4 in Tahoe City. According to this article in Roseville Today “the drone light shows, coordinated by professional aerial starlight production vendor Great Lakes Drone Company, will feature custom performances up to 15 minutes in length and choreographed to music. Both will take place over Lake Tahoe, with over 100 drones.” Awesome!

Registrations are now open for the “Great American Triathlon”! Scheduled for Saturday, July 16, the annual event will allow relay teams or individuals to run, bike and paddle. Race competitors can register online here: http://www.greatamericantriathlon.com/registration/. My friend likes to do the relay with her two daughters. One of them runs, one bikes and she likes to paddle! Perfect!

… And stuff
How about some stereotypical “Dad” stuff for the run up to Father’s Day?
Want to be Dad’s hero this Father’s Day? Be the designated driver and give him this list of, like, a hundred brew pubs within driving distance of Folsom.
Style Mag has you covered for a gift for Dad. Here’s their list of faves. Or, go the traditional route and get him something from the Rivercats shop.
Is Dad in the need for some speed? Here’s the schedule for the All American Speedway in Roseville. Buy him some tickets for the July 9 NASCAR event. Or, be even cooler and take him to Fast Fridays in Auburn. And if Dad doesn’t want to go with you, I do! I love Fast Fridays.
Only a couple of weeks left to fish Bass Lake! Take Dad and then agree to tell lots of stories about “the one that got away” when you get home. And, if it’s big game Dad wants, before you go out to Tahoe and shoot that cute little bear that’s threatening to maul everyone, check out the Fishing and Hunting regulations from the state first.
