I was so proud of myself because I walked a half marathon last weekend... and then I saw this story. THIS dude is running all the way across the country! Michael Wardian, 48 started in San Francisco on May 1 and made his way down Sutter Street in Folsom on Tuesday. He's raising money and awareness for clean water in Africa. He plans to run 50 miles a day until he reaches the nation's capital on July 4th. That the equivalent of about TWO MARATHONS EVERY DAY for two months! Read all about it in the Folsom Telegraph
Construction has begun on Saratoga Park and its accompanying trail, and recreational areas that are part of Saratoga Estates — the gated, 317-unit, single-family residential development located north of Highway 50 just east of the Sacramento/El Dorado County Line along Saratoga Way. It’ll have shade areas, play areas, a trailhead and A ZIPLINE! Nice! The project is funded through park impact fee credits and the current work will not require additional allocation adjustment. Check out the deets in Village Life.
This guy pulls stories from Gold Country Media papers of the past and reprints them. Some are kind of fun. Check them out in this article from Gold Country Media. Here are a couple to whet your appetite.

Say it isn't so! Butt, it is. The Auburn butt lady is retiring and leaving Auburn for Orland. Her landlord is selling and she can't afford to buy the place. The Auburn butt lady is "famous" country-wide for picking up cigarette butts all over Auburn. In fact, in her years of toil, she has picked up 2,206,365 butts. Orland's gain is, truly, Auburn's loss. You can read about the butt lady’s retirement in this Gold Country Media article.
